“Who Would Win in a Fight?” Batman vs. Ratchet

Posted by J.C. Wigriff on March - 24 - 2012

Welcome to an all new weekly feature on www.JCWigriff.com called “Who Would Win in a Fight?” In this weekly event, I will pit two contenders from the video game world against each other. I won’t decide the victor though – that is for you to do. I’m just the event promoter, outlining each warrior’s attributes and abilities. As Sgt. Friday would say on Dragnet, “Just the facts, ma’am.”

Tell me what you think. Back your contender up. Comment, argue, fight, and bicker. Nitpick over asinine discrepancies and minute details.

I will hold polls and votes on Facebook and Twitter for upcoming fights. Tell me what battles and characters you want to see.

So, without further ado…

Who Would Win in a Fight?

Batman

In the red corner, we have the intelligent and innovative Batman. The “Caped Crusader” has no inherent superpowers, but he has incredibly athletic prowess, and scientific know-how.

Equipped with an abundance of high-tech weaponry, Batman will stealthily dispatch his opponents – but none of his arsenal is lethal. The Batarang, Freeze Blast, Smoke Pellets, Line Launcher, and Disrupter are designed to disarm and subdue enemies, while remaining in the shadows.

Arguably Batman’s most powerful weapon is his genius-level intellect. Batman uses the contents of that giant noggin under those pointy ears to outsmart foes, through improvisational skills and thinking outside the box.

Batman is a worthy opponent – but can he stand up to…

Ratchet

Ratchet isn’t a super-genius, but he is resourceful and resilient. He doesn’t have any superpowers either, but he does possess some catlike Lombax athleticism and speed.

Batman, you may need to “Up your Arsenal.” Ratchet comes equipped with a variety of powerful and lethal weapons, ranging from devastating, to ridiculous. The Suck Cannon,  Tornado Launcher,  Rift Inducer, Mr. Zurkon, Bomb Glove, Glove of Doom, and Disc Blade Gun make Ratchet a dangerous foe.  Gadgets like The Groovitron or Morpho-Ray could make Batman dance, or into a duck… or into a dancing duck. And if all else fails, Ratchet could bring out the mother of all guns – the R.Y.N.O.

Ratchet can’t hit what he can’t see though, and while he is incredibly dexterous, he doesn’t have the stealth abilities of Batman. Plus, his weapons may end up malfunctioning if Batman can utilize his Disrupter against him.

  1. #1BatmanFan says:

Im gonna actually have to give this one up to Ratchet. The sheer amount of weapondry trumps Batman’s non-lethal combat approach. Even in close quarters Ratchet has that big ol’ wrench and plasma cutters. Stealth might no matter if Bats can’t figure out his physiology as he would be able to for a human enemy. Given the fact Ratchet also has a gadget(CLANK) that is more powerful and useful than anything Batman has and Ratchet’s a shoo-in, Next week do Sora from Kingdom Hearts and Link.

  2. THE BATMAN says:

Batman would find ratchet’s weaknesses; find out exactly what makes him tick, and then take him out before he even wakes up in the morning.
